Antifatigue Effects of Guibi-tang Extract on Bat Muscle during Swimming

Abstract
Objectives : In order to study antifatigue effects of Guibi-tang extract on rat muscle after swimming.
Methods : We performed an analysis of fatigue materials(lactic acid, lactate dehydronase, creatine phosphotrnsferase, triglycerides, urea nitrogen, cholesterol, protein, glucose) from the blood of rats before and after swimming, compared to the control groups.
Results :
1. After 30 minutes swimming, the level of lactic acid in the control group¢¥s blood increased about 66%, compared to the control group without swimming. But, it decreased about 48% by swimming in the presence of Guibi-tang, compared to the that of control group.
2. The level of lactate dehydrogenase in this study was increased by administration of Guibitang extract itself, rather than by swimming exercise in both groups(p<0.05).
3. The level of creatine phosphotransferase remarkably increased by swimming in both group, but less in the presence of Guibi-tang(p<0.05).
4. There were no significant changes in the levels of triglyerides, protein, urea nitrogen and cholesterol by Guibi-tang nor swimmig exercise.
5. The level of glucose was unchanged in both group without swimming, but increased by swimming in the presence of Guibi-tang.
Conclusions : According to above results, it is supposed that Guibi-tang has a positive effect on muscle-fatigue.
